Studio L3 and Simon Says Stamp and Show

Studio L3 by Linda challenges us to do an "Alcohol Ink Resist" technique project, from page 59 of Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities Vol II. The Simon Says Stamp and Show project this week is called Leaf-spiration, so I have decided to do a single tag to enter both challenges.

I used "Autumn Gatherings" from Tim Holtz's Alterations. I cut the branches and the leaves out of various coloured papers of Kraft-Coordinations paper by Tim Holtz, which I sanded down with sand paper.

I finished the tag off by attaching a ticket with the word "ADORE" on it using a miniature bulldog clip. I inserted brads into the corners of the tag and dyed a ribbon for the top.

Simon Says Stamp and Show: For the Love of Sparkle

This tag was made from the Autumn Gatherings by Tim Holtz Alterations. fisrt I distressed the background with distress inks, then I cut out the garland several times in different papers and distressed them.

I cut out the saying from a Tim Holtz stamp and distressed the edges.

The glitter on the branches was made by Tim Holtz  Distress Stickles (Rock Candy). I dyed a ribbon in distress stain Forest Moss. I would like to enter this tag into Simon Says Stamp and Show: For the Love of Sparkle

Unfortunately, shortly after completion, this tag fell off the easel onto the floor when I shut the living room door,  where it was devoured by my craft loving dogs...

Sunday Stamper - Week 224 - Behind the Mask

I only had my journal with me this weekend so I decided  to do this mask and stencils challenge. I painted the background with yellow, blue, orange and a little bit of turquiose acylic paint. I stenciled on some dots, letters and numbers and then I covered it with diamonds and circles in gesso.

I stamped some chicks rubber stamps from my stash.

This is it for today. I am entering it into Sunday Stamper - Week 224 - Behind the Mask

Simon says Stamp and Show- Tape it Up

For this challenge I re-used a canvas board which was brown with a stamp on it. I layered it with four types of Tim Holtz's tissue paper to partly cover over the previous stamping. I then covered the tissue paper with distress inks.  The next stage consisted of producing three Tim Holtz rosettes of varying sizes. The rosettes were made using Tim Holtz paper.

I stamped the word "AUTUMN" because the project had an autumnal feel.
I made some leaves out of Tim Holtz's packaging (see Compendium of Curiosities II), I dyed them with alcohol ink and heated them up to give them a 3D shape. The leaves and the rosettes were attached using a hot glue gun.

I am entering this project into Simon says Stamp and Show- Tape it Up challenge.

Simon Says Stamp and Show "Read All About It"

Having bought the Tim Holtz's border from a show in May this was my first time I have used it in a project. I coloured the sewing room border with gold and silver dabber and then distressed it with walnut ink and barned door  then wrapped some cord around the cotton reel.

I decided to use Kraft Resist paper and I coloured it in with distress stain, broken china. I cut out the dress former with my Vagabond and then cut another layer out of sticky backed canvas. I distressed the body of the canvas with vintage photo.

I hope you can see the Kraft Resist paper in the above image. There was a saying that I had "Sewing mends the Soul" and I placed it on some Kraft paper and distressed it around the edges with vintage photo.

Hope you like my entry into the Simon Says Stamp and Show "Read All About It" challenge sponsored by the Simon Says shop. All the products used were from Tim Holtz except for the saying.

Sunday Stamper - Week 221 Tulips from Amsterdam

I was away at my caravan where my stash is rather limited so I decided to use my  Card-io stamps, Floral Wreath. I stamped the card with Floral Wreath and in a magazine I found the words  "A Place To Be". I mounted the words on green paper and glued them into the centre of the card. I backed the card with some pink paper and then gold.

The above is a close up of the card stamped with Floral Wreath. I am entering this card into Hels challenge.

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Challenge: Inspired by Summer Distress

This challenge inspired me to use 3 colours from the Summer collection of Distress inks: mowed lawn, salty sea and pickled raspberry. I started with a background of mowed lawn which I sprinkled water on. I cut out the hearts  and coloured them in with distress ink pickled raspberry and added a strip of  Tim Holtz's music tape. I used black archival ink for the saying.
I cut the swirls and coloured them in with distress ink salty ocean.

The ribbon was dyed with salty ocean.

I glued the lower heart onto a Tim Holtz Idea-ology Alpha cards alphabet letter M.
I would also like to enter this tag to Hel's Sunday Stamper week 220 - Green Tambourine

L3 Studio: Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 19

This project was created for Tim Holtz's Compendium of Curiosities 2, Challenge 19 . I have used techniques 1 and 6. Out of curiosity is anyone having problems uploading their photos to their blog. My husband has had to use HTML to upload the photos for my last two projects. I'd be interested to see if anyone has any advice for me.

Graphic 45 - Olde Curiosity Shoppe - Booklet

As promised in my last post, I have made the booklet for the Olde Curiosity Shoppe August 19th 2012. My booklet has been made from The Olde Curiosity Shoppe papers bound together by the Bind-It-All technique.
Title Page
As you can see they are all held into place by strips of paper from which you can remove them and write on the back of them. I would like to enter this project into Simon Says Stamp and Show - No Rules challenge.

Graphics 45 - Olde Curiosity Shoppe

I saw a Recessed Frame Chipboard Book Box on the Calico Crafts website and I decided to make an Olde Curiosity Shoppe from Graphic 45 paper.

I painted the spine of the book with distress stains, vintage photo and walnut stains which gave it a vintage appearance. I cut out the title of the book "Olde Curiosity Shoppe" from 12"x12" paper, the other words came from the 8"x8" pad "Optical Oddities"

I covered the inside of the box with 8"x8" paper from Graphic 45.

The above image is the back of the book. I will follow this post up with a booklet made to go inside it. Happy crafting!

A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2

I made this for Linda from Studio L3 for the Simon Says Stamp sponsored challenge. The techniques used can be found on page 61 Creative Core'Dinations of Tim Holtz's A Compendium of Curiosities, Vol. 2. I used Pocket Watches and Steampunk set Texture fades and I used Tim Holtz's Bigz Die Weathered Clock.

I finished it off with text from Once Upon a Time "Timepiece".

Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge - Paint it up

When thought of this Simon Says Stamp and Show - Paint it up challenge I only thought of the colours I might use. In the end I chose yellow, pink and orange paint and blended them altogether, and I put gesso through a stencil of flowers. I chose  Wendy Vichi stamps for the saying and the face and I coloured them in with Distress pens by painting the colours onto a craft sheet and using water on the TH brushes to colour the stamps in..

I used Distress inks, antique linen, worn lipstick and tumble glass. The photos don't show up the antique linin very well but then after all this is a craft blog and not a photographic blog!!

I was very pleased with the effect the technique produced on my  my canvas board.

Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2012 - August

This is my version of  Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2012 - August. If you want to see the full instructions you can find them on his website. I didn't have the stamps Tim used as they don't appear to be available in the UK but I used one of his Texture Fades. I coloured it in with distress inks, leaving the centre free for a  silhouette of my own. For the lower edge I used On The Edge - scallops.

I put the words "memories we cherish" as a sentiment. I dyed ribbon in distressed stain, fired brick and attached it with a wired pin from which I hung a decorative key.

On the bottom half of the tag I made flowers and leaves out of his Bigz Die, pine cone and leaves in purple, red and yellow Kraft-Core paper.
Although I didn,t have the items Tim used to create the tag I'm pleased with it because it shows off my silhouette.

Studio L3  has challanged us to use page 39 of Tim Holtz book. It is sponsered by TheFunkieJunkie

The two blue flowers are from Challenge 14, and the leaves, branch and butterfly were stamped  using TH stamps.

The picture was printed out on Kraft Glassine and I used items from TH Idea-ology to finish it off.
